Forty Seventh Post – BeAttitudes!

Be Attitudes for the Mother of the Groom!

Be there,
     Be beige,
            Be quiet!

My second son; the good child, is getting married on October 1st. This will be my second go round as Mother of the Groom. I scored one out of three on the Be Attitudes when my oldest son was wed. I'll leave it to the reader to surmise which one was achieved. Come back in October and I'll let you know how this MOTG gig turns out.

My favourite 'life' Be Attitude thus far, comes from my mother:

Carol just BE NICE!

I'm working on it, but hey, nice can be overrated!

Happy B Day!

  1. Gosh, this posting is timely for me. My son just announced he is engaged. Neither of my children have been married and both are in their 30s. So now I will be the mother of the groom for the first time and I had no idea what that would be all about.

    Thanks for the post.

  2. I like you 'be' thoughts. I have three single sons so I've only been through MOTG thing with my stepsons. I did okay.
As for the 'be nice' well, I be trying.

  6. Oh good luck with the wedding stuff. Ya know, I tell my hubby all the time there's such a thing as too nice. It can be sickening. Now, politeness is different. Everyone should be polite and mind their manners always. But sometimes being nice seems spineless and annoying. So it's a good rule to live by, as long as your niceness doesn't mean getting taken advantage of.
Yes, I'm rambling... I've been up since 230am, what can i say? lol

Nice to meet you! Thanks for stopping by my blog.

  7. Thanks for all the comments. I should explain that there was a significant dose of sarcasm regarding the 'Be Nice' comment. My mother, who is in her mid 70's thought that the answer to everything was just to Be Nice. I am much more comfortable with the concept of politeness, manners, BUT it is critical to be authentic!
Anyone else think that Nice can sometimes equal beige?
I'm loving this A - Z Challenge. I'm meeting so many interesting bloggers.

  8. I've never heard of those three Be attitudes before but I can see that when my son got married I only really managed the first one!

  9. Great B-tudes. I look forward to being MOTG someday, three times I hope. The coup de gras (pardon my french!) B-tude is "Be nice" like your mom said. If everyone lived by it, the world would B a better place!
    Happy B Day!

  13. Congratulations! My mom can't wait for one of us to get married. Personally, I don't think you should worry about being nice. Just be yourself and do what makes you happy.

Thank you for stopping by and following my blog.

  14. Be nice is wonderful advise. My mom would say casually as we were leaving to go out or do something, "Be good."

  15. Would love to know your score this time! :0)

  16. Like your attitude! We waste far too much energy being 'nasty' - usually because we don't take the time to practice the option to 'be nice'!

SueH I refuse to go quietly!

  17. Be beige! Is that a comment on what you should wear or that you should blend into the background? ;)

  18. Love it..be nice. Hmmm, Mom said that as well. But I don't as I am two years from 70. Maybe at 70 I will. Haha.
Being your real self is important I think.
